Produtor congela mirtilos no pé para proteger da geada durante madrugada em Lagoa Vermelha
Um produtor de Capão do Centro, no interior de Lagoa Vermelha, no Norte do Rio Grande do Sul, está utilizando uma técnica antigeada para preservar a produção de mirtilos durante o frio. Nas noites mais frias do ano, o agrônomo e produtor rural Juliano Sutil Gorchevski mantém a irrigação constante do pomar, para que as frutas congelem.
"Foi instalado sistema de antigeada com irrigação. Ele vai congelando [as plantas]. Essa noite [noite de terça] nós ligamos os aspersores era 21h e chegou a 0ºC às 23h. Aos pouquinhos ela vai congelando, e vai aumentando o calibre do gelo, fazendo com que proteja a planta", explica.
São mais de dois mil pés de mirtilo que, segundo Juliano, poderiam queimar sem o sistema de irrigação. Durante a madrugada desta quarta-feira (28), fez -3ºC na cidade.
"Nós temos que verificar os aspersores a cada 2h, 3h pra ver se está tudo funcionando, pra que não haja nenhum problema no amanhecer do dia".Todo o trabalho realizado no frio compensa, segundo o produtor. Em 2015, uma safra inteira de mirtilo foi perdida durante uma geada.
"Foi um baque bastante grande pra nós naquele ano. Tem que tentar se adapta, correndo atrás de técnicas novas, pra poder suprir as necessidades. Cada época do ano é um cuidado diferenciado. Tem épocas que é gotejo, irrigação por gotejo, irrigação por aspersão, pra poder manter".
