Observatório flagra meteoro mais longo já registrado no RS
Um meteoro de 12,8666 segundos de duração, o mais longo já registrado no Rio Grande do Sul, foi flagrado cruzando o céu sobre o oceano no estado na madrugada desta terça-feira (31), mais precisamente às 00h35min. A maioria dos meteoros têm, em média, 1 segundo de duração.
Segundo o astrônomo que capturou o fenômeno, Carlos Fernando Jung, o meteoro foi tão duradouro que seu percurso chegou a ser registrado em duas câmeras de seu observatório, o Heller & Jung, de Taquara, uma ao leste e outra ao norte do Estado. O astro fez sua primeira aparição na câmera 3 (leste) e terminou sua passagem na câmera 13 (nordeste).
Segundo Jung, em sua conta no Facebook, o meteoro Fireball (de magnitude -6.7) teria explodindo sobre a Serra no RS. De acordo com o cientista, pela análise inicial, a explosão teria ocorrido sobre a região de Caxias do Sul.
